You might recall from a previous entry about a time, months and months ago, we talked about what marriage is and what it means. and You informed me that you would marry me. I tried to gently explain that you get to be my special boy, but that Daddy and Mommy are married already. You began to cry and were worried I didnt love you, because I didnt want to marry you. So of course, I gave in. Of course I would "marry" my bug.
I thought you migth have forgotten this, but you didnt! Youve got a steel trap of a mind and this came up just recently...a story which I am SO proud of.
Here is what I shared, when I shared it with my friends:
I watched this with Julian sitting next to me. By the time the proposal came, I was just leaking tears. Julian pointed to the man getting proposed to and said with delight "Look how happy he is Mom!" I nodded and I looked over at him. His eyes were gleaming.
I asked what he was thinking.
He didnt say anything. He didnt have epic words or an inspirational quote. but he had teary eyes and a big grin and he pulled me in REALLY close.
I told him he could get up and play if he wanted. he responded with "no thank you" and curled into another big hug.
He pulled back and pointed to the newly engaged, and then pointed to me and him. and told me that we will get married.
I laughed and joked that he had to get me a ring. he nodded and said with his tricker smile and cocked head Ive seen so many times and said "Don't worry Mom. I have got everyyything under control!"
Cute story...but even more touching is he sees all love as the same. their love, and ours. THAT is incredible. and i might get some jewelry out of it. After all, his and my 5 year anniversary is coming up next month!
pYou see, I had posted a video about a man proposing to another man, and I was super proud your reaction wasnt rooted in anything but pure excitement for love! also, I couldnt shake it from you, that we needed a ring. You wanted it, you needed it. So since daddy wasnt allowed to take you ring shopping (he wasnt invited to the wedding) you would go and pick it out secret with Nonny.
SO you did. You picked out the biggest bluest prettiest one that was perfect for your mama.
Nonny gave you a lot of options in your price range. But you had youre eye on ONE.
So naturally you chose it and asked nonny to get you "the prettiest box" she had.
Then, in true Backer form, just like daddy, you couldnt wait to propose, and so both of my proposal stories happen inside of a Fred Meyer :)
Its now at the ring doctor, and its getting sized.
One day you will grow up...find someone you fall in love with, and youll get them a ring, and propose to them.
But I will NEVER forgfet being your first love, your mamma, and I will never forgetthe beautiful ring my sweet sweet boy bought for me.
